Moving Forward
Hello supporters of Children of the Wolves,
We’re writing today because we have two important updates: we’re preparing to begin shipping many of your crowdfunding rewards, and we’re excited to share that work on the film is moving forward.
First, an apology. It’s been a long time since we’ve reached out, and we’re sincerely sorry that it’s taken so long to follow up and share this update. Everyone on our team has had a lot going on in their lives these past two years, and although we had to put the film on hold for a bit, this story has stayed at the forefront of our minds.
The good news is that Children of the Wolves is very much alive.
Over the past year, our director, Barb, and I have been reviewing footage, refining the story, and building the film in the editing room. Fellow producer Seth Randal recently rejoined our team after a short hiatus, and will be playing a key role in post-production moving forward. We now have a strong outline for a 25–40 minute documentary, and we’re nearing completion of the assembly cut. The assembly cut is a crucial milestone in documentary editing - it’s where the full story begins to take shape.
Like many independent films, this project is taking longer than we originally anticipated to complete. Rather than seek outside investors that could compromise the creative direction of the film, we've continued moving forward on a volunteer schedule with a very lean budget. It’s a slower path, but one that allows us to stay true to the story we set out to tell.
Most importantly, we're committed to doing a better job of keeping you informed going forward.
Over the coming weeks, we'll begin shipping rewards. We’ll also resume sharing regular updates on the film's progress. And as we move into later stages of editing, we'll begin sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes updates and work-in-progress clips with you before anyone else gets to see them.
Of course none of this would have been possible in the first place without all of your generous contributions. The leanness of our budget means that those donations that all of you made play an outsized role in bringing this film to light.
If you have any questions at all about the film or our process, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Again, thank you for your support. This film wouldn’t be possible without it.
With gratitude,
Matt Podolsky
